Other Characters

The dolls on this page are characters invented by others.

This is a doll I entered in a contest at Ice Shadow Dolls. I had to draw her character, Celesta. I like the hair on her (which was better before I put on the headpiece) and the ribbons on her wrists. I don't think the folds are as good as I could have made them.

This was made as a request at the Gathering, so NO ADOPTING. The is Lirael from the 'Old Kingdom' series by Garth Nix, the first doll on my literary special. Her jacket is a bit small, but The Dog turned out well. I do like her underdress.

This was made as a request at the Gathering, so NO ADOPTING. Lirael's sister, I made a version with bells that didn't turn out too well. You can see Mogget at her feet.

This was made as a request at the Gathering, so NO ADOPTING. Aroura is an original character I made at the wishing well. I would have given her more detail, but her desription wasn't very long. I do like her hair very much.

This is Noreth in her ballgown, a newer version that I like much better. I imagine that the book is set in the Commonwealth era, so I based the dress on some Dutch designs from that time period. There is so little Diana Wynne Jones fanart out there, so I decided to draw a bunch of dolls.

I actually drew the Mulan doll above to practice for drawing this one. I just had to guess on most of this-- the description in this book was very vague. I like the helmet a lot. It's Noreth disguised as a boy. (Or Maewen, if you prefer)
Rith|base

Maewen going for her fateful swim. I didn't want her to have a plain t-shirt, so I made up a bogus stable. This is a re-make of an older doll. I really like the shading on it.
Maewen|base

Helen, from _The Homeward Bounders_. I didn't do her hair in front of her face, but you can imagine it if you like. I like how the sweater turned out.

Hildy, from _The Crown of Dalemark_. She is in her lawschool uniform here, or, at least I hope it looks like her lawschool uniform. If you don't like her, you agree with half of the characters in the book. :) The skirt turned out well, I think.
Hildrida Navissdaughter|base

Hildy as she 'runs away from home' with her brother Ynen. If you're wondering what's in the sack, it's pasties of course. She's a couple of years younger in this one that she is above. I've always wanted to draw a pea coat. ;)

The princess Nasuada from the book 'Eragon'. I like her dress.

One of my sister's characters. She told me later that she should have an underdress. I do like the folds. Verrry fold-y. :)

Kitty Jones, from the Bartimaeus Trilogy by Jonathan Stroud. I _really_ like her hair. A lot. The jeans are probably my best ever as well.

My idea of Mordred, for a contest. A much larger doll than I usually do, but the base seemed to fit. I also looked up his coat of arms so that I could add it. I like the cloak.

I made this for a non-Disney fairytale characters contest. This is the Goose Girl, from the Grimm Bros. fairy tale. Of course, since I had just finished Shannon Hale's YA novel, _The Goose Girl_, I based the doll on her version. (Which is where I got the name). Also, my first real windswept hair. Quite good. I don't know why I put it off so long now...

Not my first Regency doll, but I do like her. I thought that I needed to practise sitting folds, and I'm fairly happy with the result. I love the hair! (This was an award for DifferentFree, so no adopting)

Elizabeth Bennet|base

A character from William Morris's 'Haystack in the Floods.' Not exactly thrilled with anything but the hair on this doll (but it was a hard base to draw anything on).
Jehane|base

Mr Willoughby, from 'Sense & Sensibility'. Yes, another Austenian doll. ;) I like how his face and hair turned out very much. The boots are a bit shiny, though... Oddly enough, I had been intending to draw my RP character, Mr Dering, but went totally off.

And how can you have Willoughby without Marianne! I like her dress very much, and her hairstyle is... interesting... My favorite job on a pattern, too. Very nice.

Faramir and Eowyn, from the Lord of the Rings. I like Eowyn very much, but Faramir isn't so stellar. Made for a contest. I'm thinking of posting Eowyn on her own sometime...

I had to make a doll to show my love of Doctor Who--this is Rose Tyler from Season 2, the episode 'The Idiot's Lantern.' The face edit was fairly difficult, and I'm not sure it worked out completely as I wanted it to...

Jonathan and Arabella Strange, from Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke. LOVE that book. Regency + Magic = Really Awesome Book. Anyway, I just love the folds on this one... the top hat was quite tough, but I think it looks pretty okay now. And Arabella's dress is, I think, my first really nice looking Regency dress folds. :)

Another doll from 'Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell,' this is the king of the faeries in the novel. He is very evil, but I don't quite think I got that across in the doll. The dirt and blood might help a little, and there is a reference to the faeries being dirty in 'Mr Simonelli, or the Faerie Widower' because they trick people into thinking they are very beautiful...

Sandra, from the movie 'Big Fish.' I drew her for a contest a Elysium. Not to psyched about the folds, and the hair is too shiny for the rest of the doll. Oh well... and I stole the shoes off of Rose Tyler. *lazy*

Jane Eyre. I did her as homework for an historical fashion contest I've been taking at DAU. The folds are bad. But I do like the face edit very much. :)

Fanny Price, for the Miss Doll Character pageant. This is a modern conceptualization of Fanny, one of my favourite Austen heroines.
